Lollipops and Flowers

Alyssa was lucky enough to get a new shirt a month ago. I was making a shirt for one of my nieces and couldn't decide on which pattern to use. I ended up making two shirts - one for Alyssa and one for my niece. Good thing they are the same age. I love the colorful circles on the shirt and Alyssa seems to like it too. She calls it her lollipop shirt. I decided to mismatch buttons because of all those colorful circles all over the shirt. The pattern is from some Japanese book/magazine. As usual it was very easy to sew. It only took me two evenings - one to cut the pattern pieces out and one for sewing. Yay for projects like that!Another shirt - Flowers - I made for my niece. It was a little harder to make as it had more details. The pattern was from Ottobre Magazine 4/2010 #23.It turned out a little bit wide but it still looked great. I liked the pleats on the bodice but the fabric choice was not in their favor so they are hardly seen. I was a little bit confused by the front button placket but then figured it out after ripping it off once. See, I still manage to make things here and there. The problem is that I don't have (or maybe don't want to find) time to take pictures and then post them here.

Baby Socks

Hey, I've been hiding from you :) Not on purpose and terribly miss sharing the pictures and stuff but my life is quite busy these days. Nonetheless, I have been making things here and there. The freshest thing I've made this past week are the new socks for Katelyn. It's getting colder and colder here in Moscow and she needed some warmer socks. Love making tiny things. Sad to see my baby grow so fast because I have so many planned things for her to make.

Back to the socks.

The pattern is by Drops Design. They have a ton of cute designs and all of them are free. The pattern was very straightforward and quite easy. These are my first ever socks and I loved making them.

Baby Steps

I made something again! You can tell I am very excited. I am making baby steps in getting back to sewing.

Katelyn was born at the wrong season because all the newborn clothes we have is for winter time. While we were in the US I got her some stuff for the first three months but then I did not have that much from 3-6 mos. So when she started growing out of her 0-3 stuff I had to do something. So I started sewing. This little romper is so cute. I loved making it and it was a pretty fast project. To make it cuter (or maybe I just did not have an already made bias tape) I made a polka dot bias tape. The pattern is from the Swedish magazine Ottobre 2011-3.

From the same magazine I made this sleeveless shirt. I used my old jersey shirt and cut it out with the original hem as the hem of a shirt. Another fast project. But took me a little longer than I would have liked it because it was my first time sewing with knits.

I was planning to make couple more rompers but the weather got so cold today that we had to wear jackets. So maybe I should start sewing for the fall already.

Sunny Hat

When I have a tiny bit of free time I run to the sewing machine. I usually cannot finish anything in one sitting just because there are little people who make sure I am right by them most of the time. But Katelyn needed a sunhat and all the ones I have from the girls are too big. So what else could I do? I sewed one. It was an easy and fast project but it still ended up being a little big. I love the fabric with little matryoshka dolls (you'll see more of them as I am obsessed) and yellow polka dots on the inside. It's fully reversible but we'll only wear it with dolls on top.

Orange Onesie

I totally forgot to show you this little number. I posted about it on Ravelry and forgot all about it. Are you familiar with Ravelry? It is an excellent web site for people who like to knit or crochet. You have to register there and then you get lost in all the projects. Every time before I make something I stop at Ravelry and look for inspiration. There are so many wonderful patterns there both free and the ones you have to pay for. So go check it out.

Enough of Ravelry and let's get to the pictures. Here's my little thing I made for Katelyn. I knitted it before she was born but it took me forever to finish it up. I was contemplating on how to make the neckline look better and also how to put the snaps in between the legs. Neither was in the pattern so I had to come up with it myself and that's why it took me a month. :)

While I was finishing it up my girl was growing like a weed. Then when it finally was done I put it on her and it fit her perfectly. And it's supposed to be for a 3 month old baby.

I have so many projects lined up waiting for me to make them. I am afraid it's not gonna happen for a while though. It is taking me so long to do something these days. Katelyn doesn't like to sleep during the day (or night) and it's the hardest. I hope she changes her ways and I have a little more time on my hands for things I like to do. Am I asking too much? :)

Making It Cuter

Who likes plain white onesies? Not me. So when I had a little bit of time I made some appliques. The good part is that this project is fast and easy. To come up with the ideas what to put on these onesies I went through Google, looked at other people's ideas and maybe stole some. :)

The Pacman onesie is my favorite. It makes me smile every time Katelyn wears it.

The downside of this project is that these onesies are not gonna last much longer. My baby is growing like a weed and will not fit into her 0-3 months clothing pretty soon.

The Array of Skirts

To keep myself sane and calm in the crazy times I have to find time for myself. When I find time for myself I just have to spend it all on crafting. Because that's something that helps me sort my thoughts out and helps me calm down and look at things from a different perspective. Maybe it's because I tend not to talk when I craft or maybe it's just calming repetitive things of the craft itself make me forget about stressful things. I have some other ways to relieve my stress - CHOCOLATE. Lots and lots of it. But agree with me crafting is much better... at least for my muffin tops. :)So here's the latest stuff I made. I have a huge line of unfinished projects waiting for me to finish but not enough time to do it. So I will have more pictures to show you in a day or so.I couldn't resist buying fabric and wanted to make something for my girlies. Emma loves skirts and so I thought it would be easy to just whip up a couple of skirts for them. I made two of these easy skirts. Did not take a picture of Emma wearing it because I have to bribe her to do anything these days and did not feel like bribing that day. Her skirt is made from the same fabric but her ricrac is pink (obviously).These two skirts were fun to make because they are different from the cupcake skirts and not as easy. So Alyssa's skirt is just two tiered skirt that I made without a pattern. Just winged it. I made a skirt like that for Emma a while ago and so recreated it from my memory for Alyssa. Emma's skirt was even more fun, because it has pockets. Why do little girls like having pockets so much? Have no idea, but know that Emma would always appreciate pockets. So one day saw this tutorial and decided that I was too lazy to make a dress but would love to make a skirt like that. The only problem was that after cutting it out I realized that for a skirt I had to make the top a little higher so I could put the elastic in without making pockets tiny. So I had to come up with something else which was wide elastic. You cannot really see it on this picture, but it's there.So here are my little things I made here and there. Thanks to my mother-in-law for letting me use all her stuff for sewing and her sewing machine. Good thing she is crafty too :)

Spidey Cardi

Long ago I started this cardigan for Alyssa. It took me too long to finish it. Perhaps it was because I was pregnant and tired or maybe it was because I did not have a pattern to follow. I work so much faster when I have a pattern. I finished it just in time for hot days. Ha. At least it is not too small so Alyssa should be able to wear it this coming fall.

Alyssa seems to like it. I like it but think it could have been better, but I am a perfectionist and want everything to be just right. When I put it on Alyssa today she said that it's awesome and that she loves it. What else could I ask for? That made my day.

Here's the little number I was trying to recreate. It's Lili Gaufrette - some French clothes line.

All in all it was a fun project to work on. I was not bored as this little cardigan has different sections with different patterns. I really liked making the lower section with spiders. That's where the name came from.

If You’re Sick

I had to make dress up clothes for the kids in Emma’s preschool. I am honored that I was asked but annoyed that teachers don’t really give me time to do it. It’s like they ask one day and in a day they ask me if it can be done by tomorrow. I guess none of them sews and so they don’t know that the process of sewing takes time. That aside I did enjoy making this little doctor outfit. It turned out just perfect for Emma and good thing all the kids are either smaller than her or the same size (I feel bad for the one big girl in her class as she’ll have to be a nurse all the time as she won’t fit into this jacket).

I got the pattern from one of my many Japanese books but lengthened it a little. It was quite easy to put together and maybe I’ll make a real jacket out of it someday for Emm’s.

We also have a nurse who will be happy to give you a painkiller aka candy and will try to make you feel better. She’s a good nurse.

Notice the thing on Emma’s upper lip. The night before poor thing was wacked by her little sister. The weapon – my cell phone. There was a lot of blood and there will probably be a little scar left. I guess everyone learned the lesson to not stand in the way of our little Alyssa.

Happy Aprons

I was asked to make two aprons for Emma’s preschool class. Every day the teacher picks two kids to be “kitchen helpers”, when they help with cleaning after everyone is done eating. So they need to wear aprons while on duty. These aprons had to be all white but I tried to make them more fun. I think embroidery is very cute and I love different colored bias tape on the pockets.

Again, made without any real pattern. Had some measurements in one of my Japanese books and had to change it a little bit to make aprons a little bigger. Put some snaps on the top part so the length of it can be changed according to a child’s height.

The embroidery just makes me happy. Got the idea from another of my Japanese books. :) I am a Japanese craft book addict after all.

Have You Ever Seen a Snowflake

Up close and personal? I am lucky enough to live with one little snowflake. She likes to twirl and dance. She falls sometimes but not too often. She is a very happy snowflake but not without some attitude issues. I hope she stays with us when the winter is over because I love her too much to let her go.

Emma had to be a snowflake for her school New Year’s recital and I had to make her a costume. I had no idea what to make first and then came up with this little number. Obviously I am not a costume designer as all I could think of was a puffy skirt. So I made a puffy skirt out of some organza fabric plus embroidered a snowflake on her leotard and made some puffy sleeves (sleeves and embroidered snowflake is barely seen on this picture…sorry). Then threw some sparkly accessories and ta-da! You’ve got a snowflake.

Time Flies By…

It’s crazy how fast time goes. I never have enough time in a day for everything I want to accomplish. I have to admit I procrastinate a lot too. Instead of the things I could have been doing I sit on the couch just browsing online. I do get inspiration like that, so it is partly useful but it’s not an excuse for me to forget my blogging. I will try to do a little better (no promises though). But let’s talk about something better. I do have a couple projects I wanted to share. When winter suddenly came to Moscow I discovered that Emma grew out of all of her winter hats. So I had to come up with something fast. I made one out of two layers of fleece (I still have to take a picture of that one). And then I saw a hat in some online store and wanted to replicate it. So I did and voila!

I had to line it so it’s fully warm and ready for frosty days. The only problem is that that was my first time dealing with a lining for a knitted hat and I made it a little bit bigger than the actual hat. But it’s inside of the hat and nobody can see it… well, everybody can see it but let’s just pretend it’s all perfect :) The other problem is that this hat is not that practical as I wanted it to be. It looks weird if you tie it and if you don’t then it moves around a lot because of Emma’s big hair. It would be perfect for American winters but not for Russia.

Little Big Things For A Big Day

So Emma’s birthday was a week ago. I don’t have any decorations at home for birthdays. It is a shame because now when we have children we have to try to make birthdays a little bit more special. So I decided to make a little something. I had a week to make it all before the party. First, I always liked seeing online all the buntings and garlands and thought it would be nice to have one in our house. I still haven’t decided if I should put it up only for birthdays or leave it on the window all year round. It just looks so cheery. I used this Scalloped Fabric Garland tutorial. It was very easy to follow. The only thing I changed was that I lengthened the height of the template an inch or so. I had a hard time picking different fabrics that go together. I am not a quilter and I have no idea which colors go with which.

The other thing that I made for my girl’s birthday was the crown. I thought as we had a Princess Party for her she should have the prettiest crown of all. So I googled ‘felt crown’ and it came up with so many beautiful crowns that people made. As I scrolled down I found these ones and fell in love. So I just shamelessly copied it – drew my own pattern and then just sewed. Mine came out a little higher and I sewed the flower in the center all around after I embroidered the letter E on it. I do like how it turned out.

Emma also had a little party at her preschool and I thought I’d make a new dress for her just for that occasion. I used an Oliver+S Ice Cream Dress pattern. It was my first time sewing with Oliver+S patterns. It was a breeze. All the instructions were clear and I finished the dress in 4 hours. Because I picked the pattern I asked Emma to pick the fabric for her dress. And she did a great job.

So we had a very happy girl who turned 4 years old all set up to celebrate her birthday. The party turned out really well and I am thinking about making another garland like that just because they are so cute and cheery. And maybe a crown for myself :)

Little Update

Thanks for all your advice, my friends, I finished this shirt of mine and already wore it couple times. Just forgot to show it up here on the blog. I like it much better now and don’t think of myself as a bat with huge sticking up sleeves. Love love the cotton it is made of – it’s very soft and airy. Too bad it’s getting too cold in Moscow to wear things like that.

In other news I have to start on Emma’s Halloween costume but she cannot make her mind of what she wants to be this year. One day she wants to be a doggy, the other it’s a witch and other days it’s SpongeBob. How can I make something and not have a disappointed girl who decides to be something else while I make her costume?

Let’s Go To The Market

Another Market Skirt that I sewed months ago but forgot to take a picture. And so when my brother and his family visited us there was a day when Alyssa was wearing it and Tim snapped some pictures. So I had to show it off here. I love the color of the skirt and it looks very cute on my little monkey. The only problem with skirts lately is that they all end up pulled up to the armpits and look quite funny. Hopefully she’ll grow out of it soon as I love putting skirts on this little one. And as usual the pattern was easy and much faster second time around. I am sure I will be making more of these skirts in my future.

Ruffle Fun

My latest project are these cute pettiskirts. Love how they turned out, hated making them. Even with a ruffler I had a hard time making these skirts. Ruffler damaged two needle clamps on my machine and made my life miserable. But I was not going to go to a no ruffler option because it seems to be too much work. If you don’t know what a ruffler is you should check it out on Google. It’s a scary looking gadget, but once you figure it out you can’t live without it.

Back to the skirts. I don’t know how people make them for a living. I made three in a week and a half and was so sick of them by the end of the third skirt. Too much fabric, too many ruffles. But the end result is adorable that is why I kept going.

Linen Shorts for Hot Summer

Forgot to show these shorts. I made them before we left on vacation, so long time ago. They turned out a little wonky and weird because I made them out of Russian linen that kind of looks like denim. Weird, right? It is quite stiff when you wash+press them.

However, I loved making these shorts. Pattern is from another Japanese book (told you I have a lot of them), made in 110cm. They fit nicely, but they have a high waist so if I don’t pull them up they hang at the crotch area (as seen on the pic#2). I still love them and sure hope Emma starts wearing them more often.

And I still haven’t had time for my polka dots shirt. Boohoo… I either procrastinate or study, so I haven’t had much time to sew anything lately. But I will probably end up making my sleeves a little shorter and putting elastic so they’re gathered too.

In Need of Advice…

So, guys (which means Rachel and Suzy cause you’re the only ones reading this blog), I made something for myself for the first time. And I had this vision that it would be a cute peasant top with flowy sleeves, but the fabric is a little bit stiff for the flowy part of the plan. And now I have this:

Is it me or the sleeves look weird? Because to me they look like bat wings… short bat wings. So there are two options to fix this. First one is to just insert the elastic in the casing and call it done. The second one is to shorten the sleeves a little bit and then insert the elastic, so the sleeves would be short.

Otherwise, I am loving this fabric that I got from one Russian fabric store. It is perfect for summer. It’s 100% cotton and very light and I love polka dots. I got the pattern from some Japanese book where I had to build the pattern myself from the given measurements. It was fun and gave me some exercise for my poor old brain.

So help me decide on those sleeves, please, because I am itching to put this top on and go try it out :)

Did you miss me?

I am back from a much needed vacation. I did not do a craft related thing while on vacation, mainly because I had no time to do anything there but run after kids. I am back though with a long list of things I need to make. The only problem is that I have to study these days, so I will be showing up here very sporadically till September. And then I hope I’ll have more time on my hands to do what I like and what relaxes me.

Remember this post about the unfinished bonnet for Alyssa? Well, I finished it but it was weird and too short, so I had to make some changes to my pattern and make another bonnet.

It turned out really cute. A little bit big for Alyssa’s small head, but I hope it will still fit her next summer. The only problem is that she hates it. What is with my girls that they hate everything I make for them? I think Alyssa doesn’t like the tying option of the bonnet. So every time I tie the ribbon under her chin she starts freaking out and tries to rip the bonnet off her head. I still think girls look adorable in little bonnets.

Sunhat

For some reason I have the hardest time coming up with the header. I always sit for a while thinking and end up using something boring. I guess that’s why I like math much better than writing.

I noticed that all Emma’s sunhats are too small for her. She always had a big head which still gets stuck going through a T-shirt and it still grows obviously. As the summer is getting hotter and hotter I needed to either buy or make a hat for her. As I am going through a sewing phase I decided to make her one. The pattern is from one of the many Japanese books I own. I just love those books even if I don’t understand a thing out of them. But as long as I have a pattern and some illustrations on how to make a thing then I am good to go.

Emma chose the fabric. She said she likes apples and ABC’s. I like how it turned out and I like how it looks on her. It was pretty easy to sew but it took me longer than I would want it. All because of my procrastination.

So Emma is ready for her hot summer days outside. Now I need to finish the bonnet for Alyssa and we’re good to go. Did I tell you we’re leaving to Crimea next week? I can’t wait.

Skirtapalooza

It’s time for some skirts. I love making skirts for the girls, because there are so many free patterns online for them. As well as I have a lot of patterns at home. Usually it takes half a yard of fabric to make a cute skirt and not longer than a couple of evenings. And do you know a little girl who doesn’t like a skirt? Even Emma who doesn’t care about what she wears cannot resist the charms of a cute skirt.

So here’s the first skirt. I made two of these – one for Emma and one for my friend’s little girl. The fabric is really light and it will be perfect for hot summer days. (Sorry for the ugly brown shelf… you’ll see a lot of it as I can’t find spray paint in Moscow)

The next one is the elastic waist skirt. You can find the tutorial here (there is also a tutorial for the adult version of a skirt). It’s very easy to make and really fast too. I cheated and used my ruffler foot monster and ruffled up the skirt before attaching it to the elastic. I like how colorful the fabric is but disliked sewing with it because of the strips (you can see they don’t match up at the seam). But oh well, it still turned out really cute. I am thinking about making one like this for myself, using other fabric of course.

The third skirt is the most work I would say, but it is also the cutest. I guess you have to work harder to get better results. Have you ever been to Dana Made It blog? If not, then you should drop everything and go there. It’s one of those blogs that I check everyday to see what else Dana came up with and shared with us. She has so many adorable patterns and great ideas. Also I think that her blog is awesome because she has patterns for boys there too. I just think that it is hard to find free patterns for boys and when/if I have a boy I will have to look hard to find something cute and easy to sew for him. But lucky me, I have two girls who I can sew for right now and I really enjoy doing it. But let’s get back to the skirt. The tutorial for the Market Skirt you’ll find here. It was easy to sew, but it took me longer because it has pockets… with buttons. I hate making buttonholes. But the result came out really cute and cheery.

All these skirts are made for my friend’s little girl and will go to Hawaii. Thus there are no pictures with modeling. Next post will be with some models for sure.

Fabric Ball

Challenge To Sew

Have you seen this challenge from Elsie Marley? I really like the idea, too bad I don’t really have time to take it this year. I love the idea of making summer wardrobe for kids out of the fabric stash I have. The only problem is that when I buy fabric I usually buy half yards, which is good for making skirts and small details. So i will have to build my stash over the year and then take this challenge next year (if it’s still around).

Check out this blog. It has a ton of useful information and inspiration. So go and look around and I am sure you will find something for yourself there.

And here’s the peek into something I’ve been working on last week. I was inspired by this bonnet by Angry Chicken, and got an itch to make it right away. I had to come up with a pattern myself which turned out a little too big for Alyssa. I will have to tweak it a little bit more and hopefully it will be done by June. :)

When There’s Need For Something

I am glad I can (usually) make it. And thanks to all the free tutorials out there sky is the limit.

One day I got sick of looking at this pretty sight:

And after looking for some little belts without any luck, I had to start sewing. First, I found this nifty tutorial by Apple Cyder on how to make a patchwork belt. Then I had to measure Emma and readjust all the measurements so it would fit a 3 year old. And finally, put it all together. I didn’t have much time to make patchwork for the belt so I just sewed some cute fabric strip on. I also couldn’t find D-rings, for some reason in Moscow there are only fancy belt rings with fake diamonds. I thought this plastic thing would be easier for Emma to open and close by herself so I got that. And it will readjust as she grows.

On the other note, I feel bad that i abandon this blog for long stretches before I finally post about something. I do have things to show, i just don’t have time to just sit and write a post. I know it’s a lame excuse but I am quite busy these days and wish I was one of those mothers who can do it all and have plenty of time to craft, take beautiful pictures, clean, make fancy dinners while playing with their four kids. I have my hands full with my two crazies who don’t really like playing with toys/by themselves, which is why I usually forget about my craft blog.

I just saw this cutest tutorial and thought i should post it here. Too bad the winter is coming to an end and Alyssa is growing too big to wear tights all the time. But i think you can totally turn the tights into the leggings without any problem. And also this tutorial is awesome because you can use your old T-shirts. Isn't it clever?

I did not disappear. I am here, but just have been too tired to post anything. My blogs are suffering from it, but what can you do. I barely have time to sit down and take a breather during the day. And when the kids go to bed I tend to just sit there staring somewhere in front of me and complain to Matt about how hard my day was. :) I hope though that with time i will have more energy to do something and then show it off here.

Enough with the explanation of my disappearing. I want to introduce Miss Horsey. It was made quite fast as a New Year’s gift for my adorable little niece Polina. She is into horses right now. It is nice to know Miss Horsy will be in good loving hands.

Tinkerbell Costume

Rejoice my English speaking friends, cause i will be posting in English again while my computer is on the airplane flying to Russia. But i am sure my craft blog doesn't really need any explanations, and i don't even write here often. Shame.
I am happy we had the chance to have a "real" Halloween this year. It was very fun and Emma really enjoyed it. She wanted to be a Tinkerbell this year. And Matt made me buy the pattern and make a costume. As i have never made a costume before i tried to resist, but looking at my daughter's big blue eyes i thought i'd give it a shot. I still think it's not worth it, cause too much work and fabric isn't that cheap these days. And it was quite "trashed" after the first outing - covered in huge stains, as we all know satin fabric stains even from water... and knowing Emma the destiny of this dress was predetermined right away. So that's why the dress on the picture is so not pretty looking... i had to wash it twice in between the parties and didn't have time to iron.
Emma still tells me that she's Tinkerbell and i think she liked dressing up and will remember this Halloween for a long time... or at least till all the candy is gone.

Одеялко

Всё лето мечтала о хорошем пляже с белым мягким песочком. Мечтала-мечтала... Даже сделала себе такое вот одеялко специально для того, чтоб на нём сидеть и радоваться. На пляж так и не сложилось, а вот на одеялке успели один раз посидеть... правда, уже земля была холодная и было некомфортно. Теперь одеялко моё лежит свёрнутое и ждёт своего часа в следующем году... уже в Москве.

Заколки-Заколочки...

Всегда хотела попробовать сотворить такие заколочки. Делаются очень легко. Самое сложное для меня было решить как украсить сверху. Хорошо, что идей в интернете вагон и маленькая тележка.

Они сейчас в самый раз, мы решили отрастить Эмме челку. Правда проблема в том, что я не Эмма и не могу заставить её их носить не снимая. Может, дорастем через пару месяцев...

Пошила мама Эмме платье. Долго шила платье, так как выкройку рисовала сама, можно сказать. Придумывала на ходу. НО... Эмме платье не понравилось. Вот так мы одевались сегодня в церковь.

Платье я скопировала :) Пошла в магазин и решила, что сама могу такое сделать. Теперь знаю, что могу... но столько работы, да и потом не знаешь какой реакции ожидать от нашей почти трехлетней дочки, что легче в магазине покупать. :)

Я не пропала. Просто лето, лень что либо делать... ну и детки-конфетки не отпускают от себя. Но у меня есть, что показать. По-тихонечку готовлю детей к холодной Москве. Первый долговяз готов. Кофта для Алиски на год. Так как размерчик великоват пока, то показываю без модели. Вязала из журнала Phildar. Очень люблю я этот журнал.

Никогда не любила розовый цвет, но после второй девчонки попривыкла. Мне теперь даже нравится :)

Mei Tai Love

Моя красотка Алиска всегда отличалась ~~умом и сообразительностью~~ тем, что хватает всё что не попадется ей под руку. А так как я чаще всего ношу её на руках, то попадается ей под руку много чего... и чаще всего то, что я держу в руках и не хочу чтоб кто-то дергал. Из-за этих дерганий стало очень тяжело ходить куда-либо, например, в библиотеку или в магазин. Было решено, что мне нужно что-то такое, во что можно было бы засунуть ребенка, желательно ~~с глаз долой~~ подальше от моих рук. Решено - сделано :)

Вот туточки очень хорошее пошаговое описание, как сшить такой мей-тай слинг. Шилось довольно таки легко, заняло у меня это дело много времени, но только потому что шилось только по вечерам, после того как дети были в люлях. Да и чаще всего мне легче было сесть, задрав ноги кверху, чем садиться за машинку и шить.

Очень довольна законченым результатом. Теперь и руки свободны и ручки-крючки Алискины не мешают :)

Если надо быстро сделать подарок кому-то, то это самый подходящий проект. Для этого много не нужно, и за 10 минут всё готово (+7 часов на высыхание). Мне очень понравилось, и буду делать еще :)

Ну вот, починил Мэтт кипитор (Эмма так называет компьютер) и я счастлива, что опять могу писать на русском языке.

Предыстория этого одеялка такова - каждый маленький ребенок любит играть с тэгами всякими. Не отличилась и Алиска, в каждой игрушке она находит тэг и начинает его грызть. Я часто видела на интернетных просторах такую идею и решила смастерить такое вот дело. На всё провсё ушло где-то полтора часа. Получилось очень даже неплохо. Мне очень нравится эта ткань, яблочки просто загляденье :) Алисе тоже очень понравилось, грызет только так. Оттого такое помятое, бо пришлось отбирать с криками.

На обратной стороне мягенькая волосатенькая ткань. Понятия не имею как называется по-русски.

Productive Month

I don’t have Russian letter stickers on the laptop, so i’ll have to write in English. Sorry, Russian readers. With all our moving, settling and finding all my craft supplies i didn’t craft at all for a couple of months. It was rough. It was like i was going through craft withdrawals. I had restless hands syndrome. Then, when I decided that it was time to sew something, I discovered that my sewing machine was not so lucky during our move and couple things broke off… it still sews though, which is good.

My friends kids have June birthdays. Now they live in Hawaii and we don’t see them at all, so i decided to make something for them. Here are skirts that i made for the little Girlie:

The pink one and the brown one are made from the same pattern from Ottobre magazine. The flowery skirt is from this website. I like making skirts, they are fast and easy. And girls love wearing skirts, because they can twirl in them.

Emma was so excited to try this skirt on. She started running around in it and didn’t want to take it off. Now i have to make her some skirts too.

The Boy turns four this month and so it was a little hard to come up with the idea of what to make for him. But then i stumbled on this tutorial. And this beauty was born:

It’s reversible, Batman on one side and Superman on the other. I had fun making it and then when Emma saw it she told me that she wants a cape too, but she wants a Super Grover cape. She’s crazy, but i love how she wants me to make things for her.

Well, all this stuff is on its way to Hawaii and i hope the Boy and the Girlie like their presents and wear them often. :)

Ну вот подарила тому, кому предназначалось, теперь можно и показать тут. Связала такое вот платье для маленькой такой девочки, которую родители назвали Clare. Ей всего только месяц, а у нее уже имеется такое вязаное платье. Связано из котона органического, так что на лето будет самое то. Размер - 3 месяца. Одна из моих дочек согласилась (ее, правда, никто не спрашивал) промоделировать.

Плюс, как обычно, я вышила маленькую картинку. Вышивалась легко и непринужденно. Правда, вышивалась долго из-за того, что дети не дают ни минуты покоя.

Ну и просто сказать, что раз дети мои ~~достали меня~~ любят меня очень сильно и не отпускают от себя, то только по этой причине я выставляю сюда так редко свои рукоделия. Времени категорически не хватает, что очень печально, так как планов много, а времени нет.

Вот пошилась такая штучка... для меня любимой :) Кто не знает - это штука, чтоб накрываться во время кормления на публике :) Я в принципе никогда не заморачивалась с кормлением на людях, да и Эммка моя не любила быть накрытой, но заметила, что некоторые люди не особо любят смотреть как я кормлю, так что надо прикрываться... Я еще не испробовала эту штуковину, но по-идеи должно быть удобно - окошко ~~в мир~~ для меня, чтоб видеть, что не тычу грудью в глаз ребенку, большая и дышать есть чем под ней. Короче, то что доктор прописал.

Во такую я выбрала ткань. У меня вобще проблема с выбором тканей и с сопоставлениями цветов. Что очень жаль, так как хочу пошить квилт-одеяло как-нибудь своим дочкам, и боюсь, что выберу ткань, которая будет плохо смотреться вместе... как селюк.

Первый блин

... надеюсь, что не комом... Это, конечно же, не первые мои вещи handmade, но первые, которые я выставляю на обозрение в этот блог. С Алискиным приходом в нашу семью, времени категорически не хватает на рукоделия, мне б поспать... я сейчас пытаюсь доделать те вещи, которые лежат неделями (или даже иногда месяцами), ожидая своего часа.

Маленьким детям делать что-то - просто радость. Так как они не критикуют и будут носить всё, что на них оденешь. И с моей стороны - легко и быстро всё делается.

Моя подруга из прихода вот-вот на днях родит третьего мальчика. Я решила сделать ей что-нибудь приятное.

Я пошила маленькие тапочки. Правда, по сравнению с новорожденными ножками моей Алиски, эти тапочки выглядят огромными. Так что они больше на 9 -12 месячного ребенка. Но это не проблема, дети быстро растут.

Плюс маленькая картинка, которую я вышила за один вечер. На рамку не смотрите, так как я немного не умею красить... :)

Великое Начало

Сегодня я решила начать новый блог, который хочу посвятить только своим рукоделиям. Посмотрим как пойдет дело и буду ли я вобще его пополнять, а там уже и решим оставлять его или нет.

Я очень люблю творить своими руками. Проблема в том, что фантазии не хватает, но благо сейчас очень много разных дизайнеров, у которых фантазии хоть отбавляй. Так что буду тут хвастаться теми вещами, которые я сотворила с помощью разных выкроек и описаний, а также идей других людей. Надеюсь никто не будет в обиде...

Тут вы увидете поделки разных напрвлений - вязание, вышивка, шитье и может ещё какие другие, посмотрим :) Вобще, у меня как и у всех рукодельниц настрой что-либо делать-творить проявляется фазами, так что, возможно, тут будет всё склопом.
